We’re excited to share some big news: Reskinned is now officially a Certified B Corporation. We’re incredibly proud of the work we’ve done so far. With a benchmark score of 80, being recognised with a score of 98.9 is a huge achievement for us. Becoming a B Corp is no easy feat. It’s an incredibly detailed and challenging process that recognises just those businesses that are serious about putting people, planet and purpose at the heart of what they do. We’ve been working hard behind the scenes, and we’re proud (and slightly giddy) to have made it official.
B Corp Certification is a globally recognised designation that proves a company is meeting high standards of social and environmental performance, accountability, and transparency. Instead of focusing on just one area of impact, the certification looks at everything from supply chains to employee benefits to how a company engages with the community.
To become a Certified B Corporation, a business must:
It’s a rigorous process, which is tailored to the size and structure of a company (there are even more things to consider for bigger companies). We had to provide a detailed review of business practices, a lot of supporting documentation, and we had to be verified by the B Lab analysts.
The certification is only valid for the next three years, and we need to show ongoing improvement during that time. After that, we’ll have to apply all over again.
B Corp companies are part of a global movement - the businesses are using their companies as a force for good. We’re really proud to be one of them.
So we are officially a B Corp certified company, and you’re probably not going to hear us shut up about it, at least for a little while anyway.
Our 2024 Impact Score came in at 98.9.
Our score, which was above the benchmark, is a reflection of the care, intention and integrity that we’ve consciously built into every single part of our business, from how we collaborate with our brands, to how we support our team members and most of all, the systems we’ve built to keep clothes in the hands of people who love them, and out of landfill.
It’s a big recognition of something we’ve believed from day one: that fashion can be circular, and that doing the right thing should be built into the way business works from the get go.
B Corps are businesses that use their power to make a positive difference, shifting the focus from profit alone to people, planet and community.
To get certified, companies are independently assessed across five key areas:
Governance, Workers, Community, Environment and Customers.
You’ve got to meet certain standards in all of them to be considered.
That means being transparent, taking accountability, and putting impact first in your processes.
And trust us, it’s definitely not a walk in the park.
The process is rigorous, in-depth, and only awarded to companies that can prove they’re creating real, measurable change.
B Corp is the only certification that measures the entirety of a company’s social and environmental impact, looking at the whole picture, not just one bit where they’re doing good.
Going through the process gave us an opportunity to reflect honesty on where we’re at now, and where we want to go, and was vital in creating our roadmap for doing even better.
We’re proud to have earned a total B Impact Score of 98.9, which is a good bit higher than the 80 points required to be accredited B Corp.
For reference, an ordinary business would score around 50.9 on the scale, so that means we’re going above and beyond… and then just a little bit further. Hey, it’s Reskinned, what did you expect?
Here’s the breakdown:
This is a reflection of what we’ve built so far, and a benchmark for us to improve from. We’re already working on how we’ll improve our scores for the next application in three years time.
And that’s not because we’re unhappy with what we achieved - far from it.
We just know that with an ever changing landscape comes an ever-growing responsibility to keep striving to do better and be better.
Here’s how our scores break down:
Our overall mission, and how we embed environmental and social impact into our structure, and the transparency and ethics behind how our business operates.
B Corp measures how companies treat the people who make the work possible, which means paying fair wages, and looking after everyone’s wellbeing and growth. Our team is small but mighty, and we prioritise a healthy and supportive work culture for everyone in it.
This one’s all about how we engage with the wider world, from local impact and charitable initiatives to diversity and supply chain responsibility. As a circular fashion platform, collaboration and community are vital for us. Without them, we wouldn’t have a business at all.
Our highest scoring category, and rightly so. Everything at Reskinned is built around reducing the environmental footprint of fashion, from extending garment life through resale and repair, to our recycling methods for clothing at the end of its life.
This area of the B Impact Assessment focuses on how a business serves and supports its customers. It considers the quality and safety of products and services, ethical marketing practices, and the company’s approach to data privacy and security. It also recognises companies that actively seek and respond to customer feedback, and those whose offerings address specific social challenges or help other organisations improve their own social impact..
At Reskinned, we’ve never been about doing things the easy way. We’ve always been more interested in doing things the right way, and we knew from the beginning that B Corp would be part of that journey.
Every action we take has an environmental impact. That’s true for us, for our brand partners, and for the people who shop with us too (here’s looking at you!). So we built a model that makes those actions count, and helps everyone involved be part of something bigger.
We set out to drive real change, to reduce fashion’s impact at scale, and to make circular fashion more accessible and more practical for everyone.
We’re here to lead the way, and empower our customers and brands to make
sustainable choices in their own fashion journey.
Becoming a B Corp was a natural step.
It gives us a clear way to measure our impact, keep ourselves accountable, and stay focused on doing better.
Plus, it connects us with a global community of businesses who share our values and who are working to build a better future, just like we are.
It’s about building a business with radical transparency, real circularity and a deep sense of community at its core, not just about the accreditation.
Everything we do at Reskinned is rooted in three core values:
We’re building systems that give clothes a second life, whether that’s through resale, repair or recycling. Every item we process stays in circulation for longer and avoids landfill. A zero-waste mindset runs through every part.
We help brands and customers make better, more informed choices with their clothes. From repair tips and care instructions to takeback schemes and responsible disposal options, we make it easier than ever to do the right thing.
Inclusivity
Sustainable fashion should be for everyone. That’s why we price accessibly, offer inclusive sizes and styles, and donate clothing to the people who need it most.
Alongside our overall B Corp score, we also achieved an Impact Business Model (IBM) score of 23.1.
An Impact Business Model means your business isn’t just trying to do good through its operations. It means the entire model is built to create positive impact from the ground up.
We’re really proud that it’s something we’ve managed to achieve.
Here’s the breakdown: IBM scores are out of a maximum of 30, and we scored 23.1.
This score shows that the way we operate is directly creating environmental and social good.
Achieving B Corp status is a huge milestone, but is it the finish line? Absolutely not.
We’re already working on expanding our takeback network, strengthening our recycling partnerships, improving how we track and share our impact, and making pre-loved clothing even more accessible across the UK and beyond. We're also actively working to reduce our carbon footprint, by analysing every part of our business to identify where we can do better, standing by our commitment to reach net zero by 2050
To stay certified, we’ll need to go through the full assessment again every three years. That means continuous improvement isn’t just encouraged, it’s actually expected. And we’re fully committed to raising our score every time.
To everyone who’s been part of the Reskinned journey: our team, our brand partners, our charity collaborators and our community. Thank you.
We wouldn’t be here without the brands who’ve chosen to do things differently, so thank you for trusting us, for embracing circularity not just in theory but in action, and for helping us bring this system to life at scale across the country.
You’ve helped us prove that fashion can be done differently.
That clothes deserve a second life.
And that when we work together, circularity isn’t just possible, but it actually works.
We’re proud to be a B Corp, and we’re proud to be building something better.
