Reskinned x eBay: Giving every piece of clothing a circular future

At Reskinned, we believe every piece of clothing deserves a second chance. That’s why we’ve partnered with eBay to bring you our brand partner stores, helping to keep all great clothes, shoes and accessories out of landfills and in circulation where they belong. Our takeback schemes have always been at the heart of what we do, making it easy for you to return your pre-loved clothes to give them a fresh start. We realised there’s still a huge opportunity to do more.

Let’s talk about the problem.

Brands of all shapes and sizes struggle with stock that isn’t sellable. From customer returns and deadstock to design samples and faulty items, the piles of unworn, nearly-perfect clothes continue to grow and grow. And this isn’t just a problem for big highstreet brands. Every brand, even the most sustainable ones, faces these challenges.

But here’s the good news: we’ve got a solution.

With our eBay approved brand partner stores, we’re giving brands the opportunity to find a new lease of life for the clothes that haven’t found a home yet. We’ve made it simple for you to shop premium pieces at discounted prices. This means brands can do what they do best - make amazing clothes - without worrying about any of their stock gathering dust.

We want to tackle the fashion industry’s toughest waste issues while making sustainable fashion accessible to everyone at the same time. It’s no small task, but we’re not ones to back down from a challenge.

The Fashion Industry’s Stock Issue

For every brand big or small, there comes a time when there’s something that they can’t sell. Sometimes it’s down to small quantities, minor imperfections, or items that simply didn’t align with what customers want at the right moment. Whatever the reason, these pieces often end up stuck in limbo. Perfectly good, but without a home.

Here are the kinds of items we’ll be rehoming via our eBay brand partner stores:

Customer Returns

In a perfect world, returning clothes would be a seamless cycle. You’d order something from your favourite brand, and if it didn’t fit or wasn’t quite what you needed, you’d send it back. That piece would then find its way to someone else who’d love it and wear it more than you ever would.

But reality isn’t always so straightforward. Sometimes, by the time you return an item, the brand has sold out or moved on to new stock. Other times, a stray makeup mark or a minor scuff from being tried on means it’s no longer considered “brand new,” and brands can’t sell your almost perfect piece.

This means many brands end up writing off these almost-perfect pieces. It’s a real shame, especially when all they need is a bit of TLC to be as good as new.

That’s where our eBay partner stores come in. We give these one-of-a-kind items the attention they deserve, making them ready to wear again.

Deadstock

Deadstock is the unsold inventory that ends up lingering in brand stockrooms or warehouses when it’s no longer in season. Think winter coats that won’t fly off the shelves in the height of summer, or colours that just aren’t trending (even if they’re your personal favourite).

The term originally described products that were “dead” in terms of sales - items that wouldn’t sell at full price.

It can also refer to the pieces that are end of line (the last of something) and are a broken size range (there’s only one or two sizes left). To make sure that customers don’t have a bad experience, if there’s just one of something left, brands will often end up having to pull something off of their site. Imagine seeing your perfect jumper and then clicking on it to realise it’s only available in size XXXS.

Deadstock, end of line stock and broken sizes area reality for every brand, big or small, and it can pile up quickly. Sometimes these items even disappear from websites entirely because they’re not being bought. These clothes are brand new and full of potential, they just need a second chance.

We collect deadstock from our partner brands and bring it back to life in our Reskinned and eBay partner stores. Some pieces are current-season staples, while others have become near-vintage treasures waiting for you to rediscover them.

Design Samples

When designers create new products, they start with a range of design samples to test everything out. The fit, shape, style, colours, and details - it all gets checked and tweaked before the final design goes into production. It’s all about ironing out the details so the end result is just right. Think pockets that actually fit your phone, buttons in the perfect colour, and clothes that are consistent in every size.

Design samples often have their own personality. They’re not always identical to the final product and might have been pinned, tweaked, or tried on during the design process to get things just right. Some samples are braver with colours, have unique buttons or trims, or were simply the prototype for the final, polished piece that hit the shops.

But brands rarely sell these one-of-a-kind items. Each piece is unique, and listing them individually is a time-consuming task that many brands simply don’t have the capacity to take on.

But you know what we’re about to say - luckily we do!

Through the Reskinned brand partner stores, we’re making these design samples available to you for the first time. Our team takes the time to catalogue each piece, highlighting its quirks and charm so you know exactly what makes it special.

Better yet, these unique finds come at a discount, with the added reassurance of our 30-day returns policy. If it’s not for you, no worries, you can send it back to us for free. It’s all part of making sustainable fashion stress-free.

Faulty Items

Let’s face it, faulty items aren’t exactly at the top of anyone’s wishlist, and for good reason. When we buy clothes, we want them to last, and investing in something with a flaw doesn’t always feel like the smartest move.

That’s where we step in. Our skilled team of repairers is nothing short of miracle workers, taking the time to mend these items with a needle, thread, and a little magic. Whether it’s a loose stitch or a tiny tear, we bring these pieces back to life and make them as good as new, or sometimes even better.

When you shop through our eBay partner stores, we’re always upfront about repairs. But most of the time, you’d never even notice the fix. What you will notice, though, is how much longer your item lasts, thanks to the care it’s been given.

Without our stores, many of these amazing items would be left sitting in warehouses, taking up space, while brands continue searching for a solution.

At Reskinned, alongside our partner brands, we’re all working towards the same goal: ensuring the amazing clothes these brands design are worn, loved, and enjoyed by as many people as possible, for as long as possible.

We already have had some really great success with the takeback programmes we’ve created for our brands, but we wanted to take it a step further. We want to make sure our brands are more circular at every stage of their processes. As we’ve grown and fostered good relationships with our brands, we realised there’s more that we can do to help them along, and we hatched a plan to make sure all their stock found a home with someone who would love it.

How Reskinned and eBay Are Changing the Game

We believe that great clothes deserve a second chance.

That’s why Reskinned has teamed up with eBay to tackle one of fashion’s biggest challenges: Returns, end-of-line stocks, and samples.

Together, we’ve created the circular solution that’s going to keep quality clothing out of landfill and in the hands of people who will love and wear them - you!

Here’s how we’re making it happen:

Step 1: Brands Send Us Their Stock

Our amazing brands drop off their unsold inventory, customer returns, end-of-line stock, and samples at our London sorting centre, where the rehoming journey begins. The dedicated Reskinned team gets straight to work carefully sifting through everything to uncover the hidden gems.

Our team will split it all out into different sections - things that are ready for a new home right away, others that need a bit of extra TLC to be ready for their next step.

Step 2: Preparing Every Piece

Each piece that comes through our doors gets the care it deserves. Our team carefully inspects, repairs, and refreshes every item, ensuring it’s in perfect condition before it reaches you.

We use a water-free ozone cleansing process, which not only cleans but also refreshes each piece, leaving it clean, fresh, and ready to wear straight away.

And of course, because we are Reskinned, we make sure the impact on the planet is as small as it possibly can be.

For those items that need a little more attention, our talented in-house repair team steps in, taking the not-quite-perfect pieces under their wing, restoring them to their former glory one stitch at a time, until they’re ready for their next home.

Step 3: You Shop Sustainably

Now, it’s your turn!

Our new eBay partner stores make it easy to shop premium items from your favourite brands, at prices better than the high street. We think you deserve to be rewarded for shopping sustainably, what about you?

Whether you’re looking for quality footwear that’s made to last from Dune London, timeless British inspired designs from Seasalt Cornwall, or gymwear that will take you through your toughest workouts from Sweaty Betty, and a pop of colour from Oliver Bonas, we’ve got you covered (plus so much more). Items are up to 60% off of RRP, meaning you can bag some serious bargains.

By shopping in our partner stores on eBay, you’re not just getting a great deal, you’re taking part in the sustainable fashion movement. You’re helping reduce the demand for new production, cutting down on waste, and making the fashion industry more circular and responsible.

We’re sure you’re familiar with the brands we sell on the Reskinned website, and you might be thinking you’ll find all the same ones on the eBay stores, but that’s not the case! Some of our brands have eBay partner stores, so you can shop their brands for bargain prices, and others are website-only, so you will only ever be able to get exclusive deals via Reskinned.clothing. When in doubt, shop them both!

Here are a few of the brands you’ll be able to shop via Reskinned eBay partner stores:

What happens to Pieces that Can’t Be Sold?

Occasionally, some items we receive at Reskinned HQ aren’t in a condition fit for resale. Think irreparable rips, stains, or holes.

We want to make sure shopping with our partner stores never leaves you disappointed, so that means some items just won’t be suitable for rehoming.

But don’t worry, we’ve got it covered. Any pieces that can’t be rehomed will be responsibly recycled, ensuring nothing goes to waste.

The Benefits of Shopping Circular Fashion

So, you’ve probably heard of circular fashion, especially if you follow us, because we talk about it all the time! But we want to make sure you understand exactly why it’s so amazing and some of the benefits of shopping this way.

Circular fashion is a revolutionary way for the fashion industry to produce, consume, and value our clothes. It’s about extending the life of each and every item, reducing waste, and minimising the impact that our clothes have on our planet.

Reduce Your Environmental Impact

The fashion industry is one of the biggest polluters in the world, responsible for about 10% of global carbon emissions and massive water consumption. By choosing to buy something that would otherwise go to waste, you’re making a significant impact in reducing your environmental footprint.

Picking pre-loved or deadstock items instead of brand new means lower demand for new production, less strain on natural resources, reduced emissions, and fewer textiles ending up in landfill.

Premium Fashion is More Affordable

Doing good for the planet is important, but it’s also nice to be rewarded for it too! That’s why we’re offering the pieces in our partner stores at a fraction of the recommended retail price, so you can get your hands on high quality, like-new pieces for very good prices.

This means good quality clothes are more accessible to you, no matter your budget.

Affordability should never come at the cost of quality.

Support the Circular Economy

The circular economy is all about valuing reuse over waste. By giving garments a second life, you’re helping reduce overproduction, cut down on waste, and send a strong message to the fashion industry that sustainability matters.

It’s not just about individual actions, it’s about all of us coming together to create a new, more responsible way of consuming fashion. Each piece you shop helps build that movement, making the industry more sustainable, one item at a time.

Find Unique Pieces That No One Else Has

Perhaps the funniest reason to shop circularly is to get your hands on one-of-a-kind treasures that stand out from the crowd.

Forget the disappointment of spotting your “statement” highstreet coat on 10 other people.

When you shop with our partner stores, you’re much more likely to bag something unique - it could even be the only one in the world.

FAQs

1. What is deadstock?

Deadstock is the fashion industry’s unsold stock. The inventory that ends up stuck in warehouses or stockrooms after it’s been discontinued, is disparate sizing, a broken down collection, or isn’t in season any more. The term originally refers to products that are “dead” when it comes to sales, but we’re giving these pieces a second chance to shine, at a new discounted price.

2. How does Reskinned’s cleansing process work?

We use a water-free ozone cleansing method that’s gentle on garments and the environment. Ozone cleansing uses oxygen to remove any particles from the clothes, making them fully sanitised without using any detergent or water.

3. What happens to items that can’t be resold?

We’ll try our best to get everything a new home, but if something has completely reached the end of its usable life cycle, we’ll responsibly recycle it, ensuring no textiles end up in landfill.

4. Which brands are available on Reskinned x eBay?

Currently, you can shop brands like Esska, Dune London, Seasalt Cornwall, Oliver Bonas, Kickers, River Island, Sweaty Betty, SKINS Compression, Bluebella, Manners and many more. We’re always growing, so sign up to our email list to stay in the know about the new brands who choose to go circular.
