Repair, reuse, relove, RETALA. We’re beyond excited to be able to finally spill the beans about our latest brand partner, TALA. We’ve been busy behind the scenes with the team, putting everything in place for our exciting launch. TALA is a female-led brand on a mission to create consciously made activewear and off duty styles. They continuously act as a role model for other brands in the industry, making it very clear that better options are available, and you can (and should) be doing things differently. From day one they’ve had a commitment to sending nothing to landfill, so it made total sense that we decided to link up, and bring you ReTALA, the ultimate takeback scheme for TALA clothes you no longer need. You can now send your pre-loved TALA clothes to us and we’ll swap them for a voucher to spend on something new on their website. We’ll rehome, reuse or recycle whatever you send, so your wardrobe clear-out is hassle free, and planet friendly.
If you haven’t heard of UK-based activewear brand TALA, it’s time to get to know them. Founded in 2019 by fitness blogger Grace Beverley, who spotted a gap in the market when she began to shop sustainably and couldn’t find any activewear that fit her needs.
Despite being a relatively young brand, TALA has big ideas and a big following, with clothes that not only care about the planet (made from sustainable materials and using ethical suppliers), but also the wearer - with styling details and fabrics that make you feel amazing on the inside and the outside.
The brand always wanted to create a takeback scheme (it’s been on their vision board since day one), and when they reached out to us, we couldn’t wait to make that dream a reality for them.
So your old TALA clothes are no longer suiting you. Maybe your Shreddy gym routine has shown some serious gains, or you’ve become more of a shorts person than a leggings person. Or the worst has happened, and you spilled that blue energy drink all over your cream sweatshirt and no amount of stain-remover is going to get that out.
Whatever the reason, sometimes we just don’t wear something any more and that’s okay. Whether you’ve worn your TALA clothes to absolute death (we wouldn’t blame you) or you’ve not even taken the tags off yet, we’ll accept them in any condition, and reward you with a voucher to spend on something new on the TALA site.
We’re only accepting one TALA takeback every 6 months though, so make sure you include everything you’re finished wearing, to maximise your voucher. Socks, pants and pyjamas aren’t eligible for credit unfortunately, but we will still recycle them responsibly, so you know that they’re not going to landfill or causing the planet any unnecessary harm.
Send them to Reskinned, and redeem a shopping credit for up to £25 to spend on the TALA website, with a minimum spend of £25. Your discount code will be valid for 12 months, so there’s no rush to buy unless you need something new.
TALA clothes are great quality, so most of the things we get back are going to be fit to rehome, keeping fashion circular in the best way.
If there’s a little rip or stain, or a missing button or zip malfunction, our in-house repair team will sort it out, so it can go on living life for as long as it’s wearable.
And the things that are in seriously bad nick? We’ll responsibly recycle them by choosing the best recycling route possible. That could mean transforming your clothes right back into the original fibres, so that they can be respun into new clothes, or using mechanical recycling to turn them into stuffing for dog beds, or gym equipment.
We always choose the best solution when we recycle - we won’t just do something because it’s trendy or it sounds good. Our team are experts, and we know the best route for everything you send us. The planet comes first.
A truck load of clothes is sent to landfill or incarcerated every single second. Clothes are valuable resources made by human hands, and even if they’re not suitable for being rehomed, they can at least be recycled, preventing the need for new resources to be used, and saving the planet from piles of plastic and natural waste.
If we all took part in takeback schemes, we’d be able to ensure nothing went to landfill at all, and all of our clothes reached the maximum lifespan, being repaired, and lovingly rehomed for as long as they were able, and then responsibly recycled into something new at the end of their life.
There are enough clothes on the planet right now to clothe the next six generations. We need to keep them in circulation, and reduce the perpetual cycle of buying new, and throwing away the old, because the planet just is not having it.
By being part of our takeback scheme, you can make sure that your old Farah items are rehomed or responsibly recycled, and we’re combatting clothing waste with every piece we receive.
Check out our website for a list of our takeback partners, and see where you can make a difference in your wardrobe.
