Brand Spotlight: Kickers

27 Oct 2023

BLOG COVERS - Kickers

Give your old kicks a new home with our takeback partners Kickers. Kickers were one of the first brands we connected with at the very beginning of our takeback journey, and we’re so happy to be their partners in takeback, helping them and their customers be more sustainable with their shoes. We promote circularity and make sure no Kickers shoes end up in landfill. Instead, we’d rather they stay on the feet of the people who’ll love and wear them for as long as possible.

KICKING OFF WITH THE KICKERS STORY

Kickers is a brand that values community, and they’ve been a key part of our British youth culture for an incredible 50 years. Their shoes help kids and adults express their unique fashion sense, and not to mention they are extremely comfy.

They are proud to work closely with a lot of different charities and partners to help kids all over the world get a better education, facilitate important conversations, and make the world a more diverse, accepting and kind place to be. And that’s why we are proud to be their partner.

Time for a quick history lesson?

Let’s take you back to 1970s France. Daniel Raufast has just had a brain wave for a new kind of shoe - one that doesn’t yet exist. His vision is to create shoes for the “blue-jean” generation, after seeing a poster where people were wearing jeans with no shoes. He realised no one had created the perfect shoe to go with jeans.

And the Kickers boot was born. More like short boots than shoes, made from natural rubber, and with stitching that took inspiration from the latest denim trends, it’s no surprise they took the world by storm. By 1974, Kickers were available in 70 different countries.

Over the years the shoes have been a key component of pop-culture style, with young creatives styling their Kickers in unique and exciting ways. Their school shoes have become a staple on the British playgrounds - the comfort and durability being second to none.

WHAT TO DO WITH OLD KIDS AND ADULTS KICKERS SHOES

With Kickers being such a big part of our national culture here in the UK, we were excited to be able to offer a takeback scheme that makes it easy for you to rehome and recycle the kicks that are no longer kicking it.

Although they make durable footwear that lasts for years, style and shoe size can change, and mean that you no longer reach for the Kickers in your wardrobe. You can trade in your pre-loved Kickers in any condition - no matter if they’re in mint condition or loved to death - and we’ll send you an online credit to spend at Kickers.co.uk.

For any shoes that we receive, we’ll recondition and rehome, or recycle them responsibly, so nothing gets sent to landfill.

WHY SEND US SHOES?

Shoes are notoriously difficult to recycle, which is why they often end up being thrown away when they’re no longer needed or wanted.

We are dedicated to keeping clothes and shoes out of landfills, so we do everything we can to make sure they stay in the homes, and on the feet of the people who’ll love and wear them. We repair anything that needs a little bit of TLC, and recycle any pairs that have no more steps to walk.

AS A THANK YOU, YOU’LL GET...

Do you have old Kickers that you no longer wear or need? Visit our takeback page, choose which items you want to send, if you’d like to print your returns label in store or at home, and send them over to us.

We’ve made it the easiest it can be (you don’t even need to pay for postage).

To say thank you for sending us your old Kickers, we’ll send over a voucher for up to £25, to replace the ones you’re finished with. When we receive your takeback parcel, we’ll send you the voucher via email straight away, so you can get your new pair for a fraction of the price.
