Can we say a big hello to the latest member of the Reskinned family please? We have a feeling this is a brand that needs no introduction - but we’ll give you one anyway: Welcome, Marks & Spencer! Yes, that’s right, you can now send us your pre-loved Marks & Spencer clothes via the M&S takeback scheme, and we will exchange them for a discount code to spend on something new. You’ll get £5 off your next £35 online spend, - whether your item has been worn a million times or you’ve not got round to wearing it once.
This scheme is part of their Plan A ‘Another life’ which brings together M&S’ circularity services into one place.
“At M&S, we are committed to supporting customers to do the right thing and playing our part in reducing textile waste. We’re delighted to be partnering with the pre-loved experts at eBay and Reskinned to launch a dedicated resale platform. This not only offers more ways for customers to give items Another Life, but also an opportunity for customers to purchase items they might have missed from previous seasons – which are pre-loved.”
Monique Leewenburgh, Director of Sourcing and Technology in Fashion, Home & Beauty at M&S
Get rewarded for rehoming your pre-loved M&S pieces and trade them in today.
If you live in the UK, you’ve probably heard of M&S, but did you know how it all began?
It started in 1884 - yes, that’s the 1800s(!) as a humble market stall in Leeds’ Kirkgate Market, founded by Michael Marks, who was the epitome of a hard worker with a big dream. From the humble market stall beginnings he built a thriving business.
Later on down the line he partnered with Tom Spencer, a cashier at Dewhirst wholesalers, and the first Marks & Spencer Penny Bazaar was born, laying the foundation for the iconic brand we know today.
Today, Marks & Spencer is a household name, and a shop you’ll find on most high streets across the UK, selling quality clothing that stands the test of time. For generations they have been known for their timeless style and everyday essentials.
Marks and Spencer make clothes that are meant to last, not just for one season, but for years - and even generations to come.
That’s why we’re so excited to have them on board. When you send in your old M&S clothes, we’ll find them a new home with someone who’s going to love and wear them again and again, and you’ll get money off your nextonline Fashion, Home and Beauty spend.
Send them to Reskinned of course.
If you’re ready to say goodbye to something you no longer wear from Marks and Spencer, then we are here to help.
Maybe you’ve worn your favourite jumper so much that it’s started falling apart at the seams, or your go-to boots are looking worse for wear. Or maybe it’s that top you bought for New Year 2023 which still hasn’t had the tags pulled off of it that’s the culprit.
Whatever the reason, we won’t judge.
When you’ve finished with your Marks & Spencer items, you can send them to us through our new Marks & Spencer takeback programme.
That includes all of the Marks & Spencer brands too - Autograph, Per Una, and Jaeger.
And as for your old things, they will get spruced up with Reskinned - ozone cleansed and repaired if they need it, and will be repurposed to either be resold, reused or recycled.
You can take part in the M&S Takeback programme either in store or online, whichever works best for you.
In store:
Drop your pre-loved M&S clothes, shoes, or accessories into the dedicated takeback boxes at 250+ participating M&S stores across the UK.
All you need to do is:
Online:
Just put your old M&S clothes in the post, and we’ll handle the rest. We’ll repair any wear and tear if your clothes need some extra loving, and cleanse them thoroughly using our water-free ozone-cleansing technology.
They’ll then be made available on the M&S x eBay shop for someone else to enjoy.
Just in case you need a bit of extra guidance, here’s the full step-by-step guide for the online option:
Add Your M&S Items to your Takeback Basket
We’ve got you covered with an easy-to-use online tool to help you select the items you’d like to trade in.
We’re not fussy when it comes to what you use for packaging. In fact, we prefer if you reuse any old boxes or bags you have at home to minimise packaging waste, so feel free to rummage in your recycling bin!
2. Drop off your package at a courier point, which we’ll direct you to.
It’s important to note that your parcel won’t be accepted at M&S stores, online takebacks must go through our courier service.

Shop!
Use your discount code to put towards your new favourite wardrobe staple, while knowing your old clothes are finding a new home too.
MARKS AND SPENCER EBAY STORE LAUNCH
Oh yes, there’s more!
As well as powering the new Marks and Spencer takeback service, we’re also launching their dedicated resale store via eBay, where you can shop all your favourite styles through their official store.
As one of the most searched for brands on eBay, this is a very welcome addition to the platform, and a very exciting new destination for savvy shoppers. As well as clothes, you’ll be able to shop footwear, handbags, belts, hats and scarves all in one place.
The pieces that are resale-worthy from the takeback programme will be spruced up, repaired if necessary and ozone cleansed to perfection, so you can get your hands on pre-loved that feels like brand new (but at the price of pre-loved).
15% of profits on every item sold will be contributed to M&S’s long-standing partners at Oxfam.
To qualify for the £5 discount code, you must return at least one M&S branded clothing items (and that includes the in-house Marks and Spencer brands like Autograph, Per Una, and Jaeger).
Though you can send back all sorts of clothes with the programme, we’re not accepting any donations of M&S labelled soft furnishings - your bed linens, towels, cushions, tablecloths etc. and you also won’t be able to send in any swimwear, underwear, socks or soiled items.
All other clothes are more than welcome, and you can check how much you’ll receive here.
You’ll get one discount code for each takeback parcel, for £5 off of your next £35 online shop on clothing and home.
Each participant can take part in the programme up to six times a year, and receive a new discount code every time.
We’re only accepting up to 10kg of clothes per package via the online takeback because of the courier restrictions, so if your package is bigger than that, we suggest splitting it into two!
If you’re dropping your takeback off in-store, there’s no restrictions to how much you can give - the more the merrier!
And only UK customers can participate in the programme, so if you’re not a UK resident, we’re sorry.
Items traded in through the in-store recycling scheme will either be sold in Oxfam’s stores or online shop, recycled by Oxfam, or sent to Reskinned to be resold on eBay with 15% of profits from every item sold going to Oxfam. GB registered charity numbers: 202918 (England and Wales) and SC039042 (Scotland).
The Reskinned takeback programme is part of the M&S Another Life. Circularity initiative, which is all about loving your clothes for longer and giving them a new home when you’re done.
You can read all about the different ways they do that here.
Their initiative also finds ways to recycle your empty beauty containers with circular company HANDLE who recycle the plastic bottles into amazing beauty accessories like hairbrushes, combs and mirrors.
If your clothes are still well-loved and worn by you, but have a hole or a missing button, the M&S website offers online tutorials to help you do minor repairs all by yourself, and for anything you can’t do, they’ve partnered with SOJO, so you can leave it to the professionals.
WHAT HAPPENS TO M&S CLOTHES YOU SEND VIA THE TAKEBACK PROGRAMME?
Resell
Items in good condition are restored and resold. We use ozone technology to clean everything without using any water, minimising our environmental impact.
Repair
Some items are in great nick, but others need a little bit of love in order to be ready for rehoming. For any items that need it, our in-house repair team will sew them up so they’re as good as new.
Reuse
Anything that’s worn out and not really suitable for rehoming will be repurposed for future use, usually at the very talented hands of our upcycling designer collaborators and creative fashion design students, who are full of ideas for creating new designs out of old stuff.
Recycle
And the items that are completely worn-out are responsibly recycled to minimise waste. This is our last resort, so every item that can be reused first is always going to be. Nothing you send us ends up in landfill, we always find the best way to make it into something new.
Because you understand the impact your clothes have, and want to make a difference.
And okay, maybe the £5 discount code is a good incentive too.
Whatever your reason, know that by taking part in the takeback programme, you’ll be contributing to a more circular economy, which means keeping clothes in the hands of people who will love them, and minimising the amount of new resources that need to be used to make new things.
Circularity is the future of sustainable fashion, and one of the best ways to protect our planet for generations to come.
By trading in your old clothes through our takeback programme, you become part of the positive change.
